Why Les Siestes is the best festival in the world? Here is our answer :)

The more choices you have, the less you renew your activities.

Lost among a vast number of possibilities — free access to unlimited repertoires, the Alexandria library available all around the world, infinite combinations — the 21st century individual have prefered to rely on algorithms that, for now, would only lead him to familiar things: « If you like this, you will like that »
Regardless of the complexity of the world, it’s incredible heterogeneity, it’s danger, an individual will only focus on things that look like her or him. She or he stays in his comfort zone, like a leisure boat sailing along without losing sight of the shore. “Otherness” is perhaps the most extreme experience of our times!
In this way, navigating in the quiet seas of broadcast channels and other customized playlists offered by streaming services, we have no hope of stumbling upon an unlikely track that we are unsure what to think of. The World is finished. We have discovered it once for all. It is rather comfortable. Explorers are no longer relevant.
Yet we live in a wild and violent world. People are furiously debating, fighting for many contrasting views on issues. Some are even screwing their own country out convinced that they are right. We’ve got to cope with that. Moreover, we’ve got to treasure it. We’ve got to embrace diversity and the turmoil of the outer world. We’ve got to kiss our enemies, the ones that think differently – this depressing neighbor, this embarrassing cousin and this dumb colleague.
Could you tell us when was the last time you saw a gutter punk, a classy student, an alter-globalist citizen, an extremist believer, a jaded thirty year-old guy or an unruly teenager spending time together? What kind of occasion permits this social mix? We hope that our event makes it possible. We think that there is nothing better than discovering by accident a new musical sphere, than changing our minds, than arguing with our partner when he or she dances to music we dislike.
Les Siestes is not the world’s best festival because it aligns with our own musical taste, because it has everything that counts in our favorite musical scene, nor because it’s what we have been exposed to our whole career. It’s the total opposite of that! Les Siestes is the world’s best festival because it respects any sort of disagreement, because you can invite there your embarrassing cousin, your depressing neighbor or your dumb colleague; because you’ll hear as many loved tracks as musical styles you’ll hate. Pleasure is not guaranteed for all. Everything can thus happen.
Isn’t it exciting not to know where we’re going?
