Jessy Lanza made a splash with her debut album on Hyperdub in 2013. Her electro R&B is simple yet captivating. Lanza offers melodies from 80s and 90s pop R&B, with hooks that hold. It’s definitely pop, but it’s twisted on its head. Lanza’s voice makes her sound sweet, but her lyrics undercut that – "I don’t give a fuck what you do," she warns on the title track. She’s compelling throughout, and has a diffident, aloof sexiness that makes the record intriguing and accessible. In a perfect world, "Keep Moving" would get as much radio play as Daft Punk’s "Get Lucky," with its disco-ready guitar stabs, throbbing synths and Lanza’s ludicrously insistent vocal hook.
